Golcuk, located on the borders of Izmir’s Odemis district, is located on a high-altitude plain of bozdaglar, an important center of nature tourism. It is 130 kilometers from Izmir and 18 kilometers from Odemis. Golcuk, 1100 meters above the sea, is an important resting area for local residents. The lake, which is cool even on the hottest days of summer, attracts nature lovers especially on weekends. Because of this feature, the field of football by the lake is also very popular; football clubs prefer hotels around Golcuk for the preparation of the season.
Tectonic lake has an average depth of 5 meters. There are many alternatives to stay near the lake, and during the winter when it is very harsh, the lake is frozen. Built on the shore in 1934, the building serves as a hotel today. During the autumn walks around the lake, nature leaves walnuts and chestnuts on the trails with all its generosity. Golcuk, one of the lake seasing in recent years, is also taking its share. In the dry seasons, the water is well drained, but due to the rains starting from autumn and the snow melting in the spring, it can reach its former level in a short time.
There are plenty of carp and catfish in Golcuk. The lake is home to many flowers starting in the spring, especially snowdrops and crocus.
